How to import from Rive

How do I import from Rive to ExodeUI?

Export a .riv file from Rive and drop it on this page. It converts in your browser and plays with its state machine inputs. Download the .exode file, or open it in ExodeUI.

How do I convert a Rive file to the open Exode format?

Drop the .riv file here and choose Download .exode. An .exode file is open JSON, so you can read it, edit it and keep it in version control.

Can I convert a .riv file to JSON?

Yes. The .exode file this page gives you is JSON, with your layers, keyframes and state machine as readable data.

Can I open a .riv file online?

Yes. Drop it on this page to play it in your browser and try its inputs. You do not need an account to convert or download it.

Do Rive state machines still work after converting?

Inputs, states and conditions come across, and you can try them on this page. Blend states become plain states, and listeners are not imported yet.

Can I use a converted Rive file in React?

Yes. Play the .exode file with the exodeui npm package. There are also runtime packages for Vue, Svelte, Angular, Solid, React Native, SwiftUI and Flutter.

Does it read .rev files?

No. It reads .riv runtime files, the kind you export to ship. Editor source files (.rev) are not supported.

Which Rive features are not imported?

Data binding, scripting, artboard lists, listeners, draw rules, text modifiers and blend states are not converted yet. Blend states come across as plain states. The result panel lists what applies to your file.

Is my .riv file uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser and the file stays on your device. Only a usage count is recorded.

Can I import any .riv file?

Only import files you have the right to use. ExodeUI is not affiliated with or endorsed by Rive. Fonts load by name, so a font that is not publicly available falls back to a default.
