Formats
On its pricing page Rive lists MP4, GIF, PNG sequence and WebM in the export section, next to RIV files for runtimes. Plans and limits change, so check the current table before you rely on a format.
Free plan note
Rive's pricing page says free exports play a Rive splash screen and paid plans remove it. Budget for a paid seat if you will ship .riv files in a client product.
When video is the wrong choice
A video plays the same pixels every time. It cannot respond to taps, loading states or data, it does not scale cleanly, and it is often heavier than a runtime file. Use video for marketing, and the runtime file for product UI.
