The design tool market in China developed partly on its own, so the stack differs from what designers in Europe or the US use.
Design tools
MasterGo, Pixso and JS Design are browser-based UI design and collaboration tools built in China, with Chinese interfaces, local servers and AI features. Many teams use them instead of Figma, or alongside it, because of access speed, data location and procurement.
Mini programs
A large share of consumer UI runs in WeChat mini programs, which have their own rendering environment. WeChat publishes lottie-miniprogram, an official library that plays Lottie animations there. Before choosing a format, check whether it has a player for mini programs.
Animation formats
Lottie is widely used in Chinese apps. Tencent's PAG (Portable Animated Graphics) is an alternative that exports from After Effects and renders natively across platforms with its libpag library, and supports features Lottie does not. For interactive, state-driven motion, Rive and ExodeUI are options; check how their runtimes and editors perform on your network.
Practical checks for foreign tools
Test the editor's loading speed from your office network, find out where files are stored, and confirm the runtime packages can be installed from your package mirror. Bundle runtime files with your app rather than loading them from foreign CDNs.
We make ExodeUI. Our runtimes install from npm and other package registries and can be bundled with your app, but our editor is a foreign-hosted web and desktop tool, so test access first.
