A Lottie file contains its frame rate (the fr value) and its first and last frame (ip and op). Duration is (op - ip) / fr seconds. The player respects that. If it feels too fast, check those values first: a file meant to last 2 seconds that was built at 60 fps but stretched over 60 frames will last 1 second.
Slow it down in code
// lottie-web
anim.setSpeed(0.5); // half speed
// lottie-react
lottieRef.current?.setSpeed(0.5);On Android set animationView.speed = 0.5f, in Compose pass speed = 0.5f to animateLottieCompositionAsState, and on iOS set animationView.animationSpeed = 0.5. In React Native, lottie-react-native has a speed prop.
When to fix the file instead
If the animation is too fast on every platform, fix the source: stretch the keyframes in After Effects or change the composition length, then export again. If it is only too fast on one platform, check that you are on a current player version and that no code is calling setSpeed elsewhere.
Choppy is a different problem
An animation that looks jerky rather than fast is usually a performance issue: too many layers, masks or images for the device. Simplify the file.
